Arnetha Gholston – Habeel (1958-2019)
Co-Founder- RTW Veteran Center
In Loving Memory of Arnetha Gholton-Habeel
"Champion of Compassion, Service, and Quiet Strength"
Arnetha Gholton-Habeel was a woman of unwavering love and deep compassion. As the devoted wife of a Disabled Vietnam War Veteran, she became his rock, his caregiver, and his most faithful supporter. She trained through Veterans Administration programs and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to ensure she could serve with wisdom and care.
Yet her heart reached far beyond her family. Arnetha co-founded the RTW Veteran Center, where she became a source of hope and healing for countless homeless veterans. Her compassionate spirit was felt not only in her words but in her hands, preparing over 300,000 free meals in what came to be affectionately known as “Ms. Arnetha’s Kitchen.”
From 2010 to 2017, the RTW Center became known as “The Miracle on 55th Street,” thanks in no small part to her loving leadership.
To honor her legacy, the Silent Heroes Service Award for Supportive Spouses and Significant Others was established. It is a tribute to those who, like Arnetha, serve with humility, love, and strength behind the scenes.
She was, and will always remain, a guiding light of love in action.
