24 Hour Sleep-Out

During the 24 hours I spent outside, I gained a deeper understanding and a greater respect for those who live on the street. I found myself counting down the hours until I could go back to the warmth and comfort of my house and at the same time i couldn't help feeling guilty, because for so many veterans and others there is no home to get warm in, this is the daily reality they live. However this experience strengthened my resolve to leave no veteran behind. Always remember freedom isn't free, everyday someone must pay the price.
